The purpose of Misfit’s? To highlight, converse, educate, and bring together the Electronic & Underground Music Scene among Cleveland. Why though?

When I was 18-years-old – two weeks after my high school graduation – me and about 10 of my friends packed up our cars and headed to a music festival (Camp Bisco) in Scranton, PA. I had never been to one of these before, nor have I ever listened to any jam-band and EDM artists – totally didn’t know what I was getting myself into. We spent three days on that mountain (returning the following four years as well), and within those three days my love for this different, funky music evolved; my love for the people within this music community began.

Fast forward to August, another music festival under my belt (Moonrise) before I began my journey from Long Island, NY to Kent, OH, to attend Kent State University as a freshman fashion student (now graduating 19’ PR/marketing student). After a summer of festival culture slapped me across the face, I was excited to find friends who enjoy the same music in my new environment.

Newsflash to me at the time; there is a smaller community of these music lovers compared to other genres. Not knowing anyone when I started school in Ohio created difficulty finding those places, or people to go to shows with, and I was very unsuccessful until later in college (when I met my boyfriend). Luckily, being from NY I had multiple music opportunities and traveled for various festivals during the summer/winter break months; prior to emerging and learning about what music CLE offers for me – considering this city will be my future home following graduation in May 2019. However, this may be a smaller community; it holds the most passion for its music – it’s different, loud, crazy, creative music that definitely doesn’t sound like actual music to some people’s ears. This music brings together all people from different paths in life to one place for one reason – peacefully jamming out.

This is why I started MisfitMusicCLE – to help and bring this segmented community of the music scene in CLE together to stay connected, educated, share their passion for this music and their favorite local CLE music go-to spots. Originally not being from the CLE/North East Ohio area, I didn’t know much at all happening in the local music scene. It turns out A LOT goes on, considering CLE is home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. There may be a lot going on musically, but it can be hard to know about certain events. Within this genre, the events are typically smaller, at smaller venues, and select people could be more aware due to their music preference and location of residency.

MisfitMusicCLE is for all those underground, EDM genre junkies to easily share content, events, and stay updated on the music scene in the CLE/North East Ohio area. (RE-WRITE)
